This double sided hair extension tape is a professional 12-yard roll for anyone who re-tapes their own extensions, or who wants to secure a topper, lace wig or hairpiece. It’s clear, strong and flexible. It holds through sweat and humidity, and it lifts off cleanly when it’s time to change it. We use tape like this every week at Art Hair Extension in Fairy Meadow, Wollongong, where Tony has fitted and maintained tape-in extensions for 30 years.
Why Buy Hair Extension Tape on a Roll?
Pre-cut tabs are quick, but they only come in one size. A roll lets you cut every piece to fit.
- Cut to any length. Match the tape to the width of each weft, or cut smaller pieces for fine hair around the hairline.
- Better value per piece. One 12-yard roll re-tapes many sets of extensions.
- One roll, several jobs. Use it for tape-ins, toppers, lace fronts and hair systems.
If you re-tape often, or you’re a stylist doing maintenance appointments, a roll is the smarter buy.
Key Features of This Double Sided Hair Extension Tape
- Premium adhesive — strong enough for daily wear, gentle enough to remove without tearing the extension.
- Clear and thin — sits flat against the scalp and disappears under the hair, so wefts blend seamlessly.
- Sweat-resistant — keeps holding through the gym, a summer day on the Illawarra coast, or a humid evening out.
- Flexible — moves with your natural hair, so it feels comfortable and doesn’t pull.
- Clean removal — lifts off with adhesive remover or alcohol, with no sticky residue left on the weft.
How to Re-Tape Tape-In Hair Extensions
- Remove the old tape. Apply adhesive remover or alcohol, let it soak in, then peel the old tape off the weft.
- Clean the weft. Wipe away any residue so the new tape sits flat. Let it dry fully.
- Cut the tape. Cut a piece of double sided hair extension tape the same width as the weft.
- Apply to the weft. Peel one side of the blue liner, press the tape onto the weft and smooth it down.
- Refit. Peel the second liner and sandwich a thin section of natural hair between two wefts. Press firmly for a few seconds.

Double Sided Hair Extension Tape: FAQs
What is the best double-sided hair extension tape?
The best tape is clear and thin, holds through sweat, and removes without residue. It should also suit the job. Wig tape is made for shorter wear. Tape-in extensions need a tape that stays flat and secure between maintenance appointments. If you’re unsure which one suits your hair, ask us before you buy.
How long does double-sided hair extension tape last?
This tape is rated for a 1–3 week hold, and it can last longer depending on your hair, your scalp and how you care for it. Oils, heavy conditioner near the roots and heat all shorten the hold.
How do you remove double-sided hair tape?
Apply adhesive remover or alcohol to the tape and give it a minute to break down the bond. Then slide the wefts apart gently. Never pull tape off dry — that’s how natural hair gets damaged.
Can you reuse tape-in hair extensions?
Yes. Good-quality tape-in extensions can be re-taped and refitted several times. Remove the old tape, clean the weft, apply fresh double sided tape and refit.
What are the downsides of tape-in hair extensions?
They need regular maintenance, as the tape grows out with your hair. Oil-based products near the roots weaken the bond. If they’re removed incorrectly, they can pull on your natural hair. Correct fitting, the right tape and professional removal solve most of these problems.
