Genius weft hair extensions give you the flat, discreet seam of a hand-tied weft with the cut-anywhere flexibility of a machine weft. This pack is a 22-inch genius weft in 13 shades.

We don’t just sell it. Genius weft is one of the weft methods we fit in our own salon, and Tony Taşkın has spent 30 years fitting extensions. So the stock we carry is stock we’re prepared to put on our own clients.

Why stylists choose genius weft hair extensions

Every weft is a trade-off between seam, strength and hair density.

Hand-tied wefts are tied by hand. The seam is very flat, so rows sit flush against the head. The catch: they hold less hair, they’re more delicate, and you can’t cut them without the weft unravelling.

Machine wefts are sewn by machine. They’re stronger and hold more hair, and you can cut them to size. But the seam is thicker, and when you stack rows it can feel bulky and show through fine hair.

Genius wefts sit in between. The seam is close to hand-tied thickness, but the construction lets you cut the weft along the seam to fit the row you’re building. Less waste, a flatter finish, and no need to fold or double over excess weft.

Who genius wefts suit

Genius weft hair extensions work well for clients who want length and volume without a visible ridge. They’re a good fit for:

  • Fine to medium hair that needs density without bulk
  • Clients who’ve found tapes too flat or bonds too slow to fit
  • Rows at the crown, nape or hairline where a custom width matters

They’re not for everyone. Very short hair, a sensitive scalp, or hair that’s already breaking needs a proper consultation first. No extension method is damage-free. Weight and tension on the scalp are the main risks, which is why the American Academy of Dermatology lists tight extensions and weaves among styles that can cause traction hair loss. Correct row placement, the right number of packs, and regular move-ups matter more than the hair itself.

Genius weft FAQs

What are genius weft hair extensions?

A genius weft is a thin, flat weft of hair that’s sewn in rows, usually onto a row of beads. It combines the flat seam of a hand-tied weft with the strength and cut-to-size flexibility of a machine weft.

What’s the difference between genius weft and hand-tied weft?

Both have a very slim seam. Hand-tied wefts are tied by hand and can’t be cut without unravelling, so they’re used at full width. Genius wefts can be cut along the seam to suit each row, which means less waste and a better fit at the crown and nape.

Can you cut genius wefts?

Yes. That’s the main reason stylists choose them. Cut along the seam to the width of the row you’re building.

How long do genius weft extensions last?

It depends on the hair, how often it’s washed and heat-styled, and how well it’s cared for at home. With good care, the hair itself typically lasts [LIFESPAN]. The row needs moving up every [MOVE-UP WEEKS] weeks as your own hair grows. Our weft care tips cover washing, brushing and sleeping.

How many packs of genius weft do I need?

It depends on your hair’s density and the look you want. Most full-head installs use [PACKS PER HEAD] packs. A consultation is the honest answer: buying too few packs leaves a visible line, too many adds weight.

Are genius weft extensions damaging?

No extension method is damage-free. The risk comes from weight and tension: rows that are too heavy, too tight or left too long between move-ups. Fitted correctly, at the right weight, and maintained on schedule, the risk is low. Any soreness, redness or breakage near a row means it’s time to see your stylist.
